The University of Calgary Faculty of Social Work is the largest faculty of social work in Canada, consistently ranked among the top 15 schools in research productivity across North America. We are proud to offer graduate and undergraduate education to our students in our campuses across Alberta and through flexible programs, designed to meet the needs of working professionals. Please explore our various program options at your preferred location.

The University of Calgary is embarking on something special – our first-ever Giving Day. From April 27 to 29, we’ll be working to create 50 new scholarships in 50 hours in celebration of our 50th anniversary.

Michelle Wickerson remembered through Memorial Award

Michelle Wickerson was a proud Social Work graduate who devoted her life to helping individuals in need through her work at the Distress Centre Calgary. Michelle passed away in 2016, and a Memorial Award in Social Work was created by her family and the Distress Centre in her honour. Giving Day April 27-29, provides everyone with the opportunity to support our Social Work Students with a gift of any size. All gifts are matched and tax-receipted.

Scholars from across the University of Calgary are coming together to advance and advocate for research supporting immigrants, refugees and international students. Social Work Associate Dean Christine Walsh suggests we need to better understand immigrant populations within homelessness research.

On Thursday, Marlin Schmidt, minister of Advanced Education, announced further funding to create renewed student spaces for the faculties of Nursing and Social Work.
