From its Regional base in Edmonton, the Faculty of Social Work offers undergraduate and graduate education to students in central and northern Alberta. We are seeking two professorial stream faculty members with strong research potential and capacity to teach in our Clinical Practice specialization MSW, as well as in the generalist BSW in Edmonton and in rural sites in northern and First Nation and Métis communities. The Faculty is interested in supporting research programs and teaching excellence in the areas of social work in child welfare, health/mental health, immigrants and refugees, and First Nations and Métis communities. Applicants with experience and expertise from a critical perspective in any of these areas are encouraged to apply. Experience in curriculum development, alternative delivery models, academic administration and community-based research and practice are desired.

The Faculty of Social Work invites applications for two tenure-track positions in its Edmonton-based Central and Northern Alberta Region, one assistant professor and one associate professor. Candidates for a position at the Assistant Professor rank must hold a doctorate in social work (or related discipline), at least one degree in social work (or equivalent), refereed scholarly publications, practice experience, and university-level teaching experience. At the Associate Professor level, candidates are expected to have a strong scholarship record, an established program of research, extensive teaching experience, and interest in collaborative academic leadership. All candidates must have a demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

The University of Calgary is a young, dynamic, comprehensive research university. The Faculty of Social Work is research-intensive, supporting inter-professional and community-based enquiry from multiple perspectives in the generation and application of knowledge to social and individual change. The Faculty is the sole provider of social work degrees in Alberta. The Edmonton-based Central & Northern Alberta Region serves approximately 100 MSW students and 175 BSW students.
