Sowing Seeds of Change: Sarada Eastman - Seeds of change is organized around narrative introductory text and case-studies presented as photo essays. The narrative is based on reflections from my Master's of Social Work (M.S.W.) program at the University of Calgary, and my internship placements during 2009 and 2010. The narrative links the practice of social work with personal experience. www.sowingchange.weebly.com
Shuttle for Hope: Leqin Lu - This website is about my experience finding ideas for social change by weaving different cultures, languages and societies together. I call this "The Shuttle for Hope".Growing up in Guangzhou, China, I witnessed rapid changes in all aspects of life with the convergence of global trade and social welfare reform. My background in social work allowed me to analyze strengths and needs of service users and communities. My involvement in an international participatory action research and in the disaster response to the Sichuan Earthquake consolidated my interest in community development and hardened my determination to further study in this field. http://leqinlu.weebly.com
Tiffany McCabe: This year a friend recommended a book, A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry. Although this book is fictional; school, family, friends, social work, and recreation, were put into perspective for me from this book. I have heard the saying its a fine balance or walking a fine line, many times before reading this book, but the story Mistry puts together animates this saying to be really meaningful. Mistrys book is about resilience, hope, diversity, change, development, social justice, family, spirit, breaking through barriers, and finding life between two extremes. In a different context, I find myself writing my own story with the same themes as well as hearing other peoples story relating to finding a fine balance. www.wix.com/tiffmccabe/tiffmccabe
