Online Application Process

  1. Online Application Form
    Complete and submit the online application form: http://www.gradapplication.ucalgary.ca/account/instructions.asp

  2. Resume
    Submit a detailed resume of your experience (volunteer or paid) relevant to social work to the Faculty of Social Work. Please include educational history, professional experience (including teaching), professional and educational awards/distinctions, publications, and presentations. Some programs require applicants to have social work related experience, check your program details carefully.

  3. Study Plan/Research Proposal
    Submit a study plan of approximately 5 pages (double-spaced). Within this plan, describe how your educational goals and career expectations relate to your specialization and area of interest. Include both personal and academic rationales for your choices.

    Applicants to the thesis route must provide an additional statement (approximately 5 double-spaced pages) describing the research problem you hope to investigate and your preliminary ideas regarding methodology.

  4. Transcripts and References
    Submit two official sets of transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended, as well as two references (including completed reference forms as well as accompanying letters of reference).
    Consent forms for a reference letter can be found on the Graduate Curriculum Plans, Timetable, Course Books & Forms page.
  5. Application Fee
    Submit your application fee with the resume and study plan.
